Ventura County has updated its shadowbox display in the State Capitol. The display, which is comprised of various elements that highlight Ventura County, will be unveiled in Sacramento at 9 a.m., June 14 with local and state dignitaries in attendance. Supervisor Kathy Long will conduct the unveiling ceremony.

“We’re so proud to have this beautiful design that reflects what we treasure about our county on display in our State Capitol annex,” said Supervisor Long. “Our county has so much to offer in terms of agriculture, economic vitality, scenic beauty and a high quality of life, and we’re thrilled to be able to share it with visitors.”

The new three-panel design is a snapshot of Ventura County, including the history of how it was shaped by its early economy and the industries that drive the current economy, such as agriculture and biotech. The Port of Hueneme and Naval Base Ventura County are also featured, along with images by local photographers of the area’s natural beauty, amenities, museums and cultural centers.

The County Board of Supervisors partnered with the Economic Development Collaborative-Ventura County, (EDC-VC) to create this new design for the county’s display case in Sacramento. For the display’s design and creation, EDC-VC received funding from the county with a match from Chris Meissner of Meissner Filtration Products.

Each of California’s 58 counties has a shadowbox display in the hallways of the capitol building, near the governor’s office. Hundreds of visitors pass these displays, which highlight the cultural and economic assets of each county.
